Taiwan uses the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$ or TWD). The tax system has a standard deduction plus personal exemption; combined these reduce taxable income meaningfully. Moving from Taiwan
Taiwan offers the Gold Card (Employment Gold Card) — a combined work permit + residence permit + ARC for senior professionals in technology, economics, education, culture, or other designated fields earning NT$160,000+/month (approximately $5,000/month). The Gold Card provides 3-year validity, simplified application, and is extremely popular with tech professionals at TSMC, MediaTek, and international companies. Additionally, Taiwan has a relatively simple Employment Authorization process for MNC workers.
